About osteopathy

Osteopathy uses many of the diagnostic procedures involved in conventional medical assessment and diagnosis. Its main strength lies in the unique way the patient is assessed holistically from a mechanical, functional and postural standpoint.

Treatment is aimed at improving mobility and/or reducing inflammation by using gentle manual osteopathic techniques on joints, muscles and ligaments.

This is achieved using gentle spinal release techniques, joint mobilisations, soft tissue and neuromuscular therapy. Osteopathic treatment stimulates and strengthens the body's inherent powers of recovery and improves the patient's vitality.

Naturopathy uses a range of techniques including nutritional medicine, neurological integration, energy and vibrational medicine, acupuncture and postural re-education. Julia Williams is also a registered practitioner of the Neil-Asher approach to frozen shoulder problems.

The naturopathic triangle of health.

Cranial osteopathy is a very gentle, but powerful form of treatment. It can be used to treat all ages but is particularly suitable for treating babies and children. Very specific, light pressure is used to assist the natural ability of the body to release stresses and strains. It is commonly used to treat:
Sleeplessness and irritability

  • Colic and discomfort
  • Birth injuries
  • Recurrent injuries

The Neurological Integration System bases its treatment methods on the neurophysiology principle that the brain governs optimum function of all body systems. This, in essence, makes the patient’s brain, not the practitioner, the most knowledgeable and qualified to diagnose and correct complaints.

The human body is born with a set of maximum tolerances dictated by our unique DNA. When all body systems operate within our individual template of parameters, we have our best health. From time to time, stresses (physical, pathological, chemical or emotional) cause our individual tolerances to be exceeded. This is when the body will start to show symptoms of pain and/or illness. An exceeded threshold may be thought of as a broken circuit - the brain is no longer in full communication with certain aspects of function.

The Neurological Integration System involves a set of prioritised treatment protocols that evaluate your neurological circuitry to determine and address which aspects of your body function that your brain is not fully controlling. It is non-invasive, stress and pain free and is suitable for the new-born baby through to the very aged (and also for animals).

Julia has formed collaborations with a number of excellent therapists including fellow osteopaths, trainers, psychotherapists and dentists who have assisted in the design of courses and work-shops, both clinic-based and residential.

They include:

  • Back stability
  • Body energy awareness
  • Posture dynamics
